I finally caved in and splurged on decent boots. Tech 7 Enduro. Devon at REC Supply was great to work with.

First ride...first impression of the Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduros: WOW, these are some comfy boots! It almost feels like I'm wearing sensible shoes!
A few observations: 1) they squeak like crazy when walking around. I stopped at Sobey's to top up my camelback and I got some fun comments about the squeakfest
2) they have a big enough calf area that I can wear my shin/kneeguards on and the boot still closes (although I do have skinny chicken legs). Anyway, I'm glad I get to keep the knee protection
3) I need to get used to the hard bottom. The crappy boots I've been wearing (First Gear Kathmandu) had such a soft sole that I kinda liked the feel on the pegs. Now it feels like I could slip off if I got bumped
4) I need a new gear shift lever because the stock KLR one is way too short.
And finally, I smacked the inside of my ankle on a poorly timed jump and I didn't feel a thing. Therefore, I've already gotten my money's worth.

Been in my Tech 7's for years. Saved my floppy flippers over and over! I do find them a little stiff, but I suppose that's a good thing when you fly into the trees and rock as much as I do haha
