I am trying to pick between these two beauties. I have never used the new dualsport type brain buckets. Are they too hot for off road riding? Most MX lids are not DOT approved? What do you prefer, and why? 2014 KTM 500EXC 2003 HONDA 919 (Hornet 900) 2003 HONDA CRF450R

Nice choices... If I'm riding lots of highway I'll wear a DS helmet. Offroad, MX helmet all the time. My DS helmet is waaay too hot and either too dusty if the visor is up or to foggy with it down.

Not sure if that Fox is DOT standard. My 509 snowmobile helmet is, but it is so damn hot, even on the sled!

I use both. I don't get hot. Dualsport is more convenient. Stop flip it up. No messing around with goggles on or off.
But i use my offroad one to. Better for gopro location
Last time at kootenay. I'm bringing both helmets

my mx one.
depends what kind of riding your doing that day.
After a longer ride the MX one with goggles starts to rub skin and starts to hurt. And i have the nice tripple foam goggles. where as the dualsport helmet it wouldnt touch my face.
personal preference

I love the mx, except when it's raining Cuz the rain stings my nose where the goggles don't cover.

I use an Arai XD4 and love it. The peak doesn't snap your head back if you lift your chin accidentally on the highway. But like some of the other guys are saying, it's not ideal off-road. Visor closed you get fogging, visor open you get dust in the eyes.
But for many DS helmets you can easily remove the visor for a day on the trails. I've done that with mine, and just used goggles with it when I was headed out to Nisbet and not going to be riding any slab.
Goggles for road riding suck, mostly because the bugs and raindrops hurt like hell when you get them on the nose and cheeks.

I ended up going with a Fox helmet pictured above. I'll just keep swapping between my street and MX helmets. Gotta have more than a swiss-army knife in the tool box...

Just saw the fox one at rec supply this morning when I was picking up extra air filter. Forget how much it was.

I just bought the green and orange fox pants that match that helmet!
