I stopped at cabelas yesterday to look at a new mattress for this sping and found there are several models to choose from. Is there any one model that works better for size and comfort?

I have used my Thermarest cot for a few years now and really like it. Nothing to blowup and it packs up real small. Takes a few minutes to setup and teardown but it is worth it. The tape in the areas you slide the poles through comes loose and is sticky when sliding the poles through but not really a problem. I have probably used it about 40 times now.

If you are looking for something super light for 3 seasons you might really like the Big Agnes Double Z. I bought mine in Calgary last year from Bass Pro Shops for about $150.
It is not self-inflating, but it does have one-way inflation so you don't lose air that you've blown in.
It's about 4" thick and has an R value of 1.5, which is better than nothing. Sizes go up to 50"x78" but it packs down into a really small stuff sack.
I like mine but I slide around a bit because the surface is slippery, and because I already have a slippery sleeping bag.
My two cents.

I have never found in cold but I do use a heavier full length sleeping bag as well. One of the luxurys I am willing to sacrifice space for. I am sure an air matress would be warmer as you are sleeping on a layer of trapped air.

I am trying out the windcatcher quick inflating airmatress on my upcoming baja trip. It works real slick so far, and is by far the most compact option in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0LX8oLX8VU

Wow, that Windcatcher looks awesome...and it's pretty cheap! If they ever come out with a wider and longer version I'd sure consider buying one.

Looks like that would be a real good option for those that are full of hot air.

yeah I have the double sized model, canadian tire in swift had them for52$. The first time it didn't want to inflate so easy, but after a few cycles its quite quick. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woods ... p.html#srp
