I looked into a bunch of different tires last year and came across the MotoZ line of tires and read some good reviews, but don't know anyone personally that has used them. This year I broke down and ordered a 130-90/18 rear Tractionator Desert H/T D.O.T. They have a pretty aggressive tread pattern but designed to last on hard surfaces. I love having the grip in the dirt so figured why not try them out and see what happens. I am pretty curious as to how they will wear. Here is a review of them I found on youtube. I will post how fast they wear and thoughts on the tire once winter is gone and I get some time on it.

I used these tires for a 3000 km DS ride in MT, UT & ID 2 years ago. They wear very well - probably still had about 50% tread left when I got done with the trip.
The only down-side I had with them is off-road grip on rocks and gravel. The rubber is very hard (which gives it great longevity) making it tough for the tire to bite on certain surfaces.

Yeah, it's a funny thing, but tires for hard surfaces should be soft and tires for soft surfaces should be hard. Softer rubber will adhere to things like rock and asphalt more, whereas harder rubber will bite into loam and dirt better.
I read that somewhere anyway. For longevity it makes sense to use a harder tire, even on asphalt.

My biggest worry about this tire is that it might be too slippery on the pavement. I am used to running aggresive tires and dealing with the wear from running pavement once in a while. I am generally used to the limited grip aggressive tires have on pavement, except I have never run a tire with this hard of a compound before and if they are too slick to use in the black top it could be a problem.we shall see.
