I like a little more than the 2-fer if discipline needs to be dealt out. 8+1 and very cost effective. Also the stock can be legally removed an just have the pistol grip for smaller packing. For bear defense I strongly recommend bird shot. Sounds stupid I know, but in the heat of the moment you don't want to be launching stray missiles! And inside of "get out of my tent" range, anything shy of an elephant is gonna take a knee. I like this option cuz you can leave shells in the tube, but nothing chambered. There's a release that prevents accidentally pumping one in the chamber so its relatively safe (as far a sleeping with a gun in your tent goes!). If disaster strikes, safely pump one into the chamber and fire into the air (multiple times if required) and still have plenty of bear repellent if he won't take no for an answer. Please be confident in your abilities if you decide to go this route. My dad almost shot me when I was a kid  Accidents do happen so take my hill billy opinion with a grain of salt!

Was fubared so I took it back to North Pro Sports and they replaced it with a different Norc that I was using in 3 gun etc. it's an Chinese 870 copy and had a 14" barrel from factory and has had the crap shot out of it! North Pro are pretty good to deal with and are local.
