As you know, if you buy a bike outside of Saskatchewan you'll need to get an out of province inspection done by a registered shop. ProLine in Saskatoon wanted $130 and insisted that I needed to get a Canada-wide VIN search done beforehand. It seems to me this is more important when you are actually looking to buy the bike. Anyway, you do this through an SGI insurance office and it costs $10.
I had my inspection done at Rev in Martensville and it cost me $110....and there's a check mark on the certificate beside "Cross Canada VIN Search"...which leads me to believe it was included.
It's worth noting that before you even get the inspection done you can put a standard permit on the bike for one day ($20), 8 days ($48), or you can also just get "conditional insurance". Essentially, you pay for 28 days of coverage at the rate that your monthly insurance would cost, they issue a plate if you don't already have one you can transfer over, and then you simply have to get the inspection done within that 28 day period.
And, if you're curious to know exactly what the shop is mandated to check, here's a link to an SGI pdf that shows all the items that would cause a particular category to be rejected.
