Been working on a bit of a project over the last few weeks. Wanted to build something to camp with that was on the minimalist side and would allow me to camp anywhere. The idea basically came from seeing pictures online of off-road trailers with roof top tents. If your not familiar with roof top tents, google it, they area great idea. Started with my rusty 86 Toyota pickup First step was to take the rusted out box off and building a flatbed Next step was to build the main structure. Used 3/4" good one side plywood. Here it is half put together Frame all together The idea is the top part will contain a matress and have a tent that pops up over it. Underneath will be for storage. One side open and one side closed in. It'll make more sense when you see it I promise. Next step was to cut access doors, cover most of it in waterproofing membrane, and then paint with box liner. That's all that I feel like writing tonight. More to come tomorrow. |

Just realized that I never added to this. Been a crazy busy fall! Anyway, after some hardware and things, next step was to attach the tent. Next we got it up on the truck, built a support for the open side and bolted it down to the truck. That’s basically where it’s at. Took some time to work in the truck. Put new front axels and ball joints in last weekend. Also new front fenders. |

That's pretty cool, much nicer to be on a proper mattress. When it's folded up, could you strap bikes on top of it? |
