I enjoyed the 606s on my KLR. They held up well and were great off road. That said, a long ride might be busy because they had pretty big knobbies.
They are also a super stiff sidewall. We had to change one in Moab in the middle of nowhere and it was a 2 person job to get that bastard off and back on the rim.
Price was good, something like 130 each.

I would stay away from tires like the MT21/606 if you are planning to do long ride on paved road. They won't last very long and I'm not sure you will like the ride quality and noise after a few hours. If you want a tire that is great on road and you also want to do light trail but no mud, I recommend the TKC70 or Shinko 705. Look at the Mitas E07 and I read good reviews on the new Motoz GPS if you want a 50/50 tire. With those you will be able to do mud but you have to slow down but they will get you thru. And last, the Anakee wild, a bit noisy but very good on and off road and they last and wear better than the TKC80. Snobear and myself have been trying many combination and an Anakee wild front with a E07 rear seem to be our best combo for wear and traction and I'm also looking at the Motoz GPS rear at the moment.

there is no one dual sport tire that is good for every type of riding just like there is no one bike that is good for every type of trail. Its best to have several bikes of different sizes with different tires.
