XT is a decent bike but underpowered.
. The TW200 is sort of more a novelty and doesn't have alot of suspension travel. CRF250L is okay and can cruise highway speeds with it's 6 gear and the DRZ is more powerful but has no 6th gear.
The TW200, CRF250 and DRZ400 I and my wife have owned at some point.
Out of them all if that's your price range get a CRF250L, I found it to feel more nimble than the DRZ in offroad even if it's not as fast. DRZ was pretty buzzy at speed.
Or just go put the extra money in and buy a Husky or KTM 350, you won't regret it.

A WR250R came on sale today, I ended up buying it. It is lowered with Yamalink, I can have a heel on the ground fairly easily. Here's the details:
2008 WR250R 9,600 kms Fmf powercore muffler Fmf powerbomb header Powercommander v Flatland skid plate Z carbon chain guard Rototopax 1 gallon tank Rotopax locking mount Scaggs rear rack Wind screen Hand guards (that could use new plastics) Ram phone mount
It's got scuffs as it was used offroad, but I won't feel so bad adding some of my own! The ankle is well enough to ride around town so I'll be doing some of that while I look for gear... need a motocross helmet, boots and probably looking at torso armor. I probably look goofy with my 1/2 street helmet!

Good buy. Should be lots of life left in that bike.

Congrats on the new ride. Existing scuffs are great because you don't get that horrible feeling the first time you drop it and it's not perfect anymore. Plastic is easy and cheap to replace anyway.

Thanks guys! Really looking forward to getting into the dirt with this thing!
As far as gear goes, how confident can a guy be buying this stuff online? Boot sizes vary, though perhaps I could try on a few pairs locally and buy the same brand online. Same with helmets... I think my big melon takes an XXL but I need to confirm that. I'm wondering if I'll find some good armor that can cover the ol' spare tire... ??

Fortnine has a free return policy but I agree it nice to try it on first but if you don't like it they do exchanges as well
