So anyone here gone riding in moab? I am thinking mid/late april, will likely throw the klr in the back of a 2010f150 4x4 regular cab 6.5' box. is late april a shitty time to go? I am kinda excited to take my truck more than anything.... I know its not a jeep but it's as good of a 4x4 pickup as any I think.

Moab is AWESOME!! By all means go! April and October are the best months to go, but most people go in April, so it's a lot busier in April than in October, according to the locals. Watch out for the big jeep jamboree in April - I wouldn't go that week as the place is a complete zoo (apparently). You can go at other times too - I was there in August and you can ride fine as long as you are prepared for the heat. Highs in April/October are around 20 to 25 C. Normal highs in August are around 35 C.

If you do the Lockhart Basin trail make sure to leave enough time! We ran late doing it. But it's a great trail with great views. Most of it is easy, but there are occasional spots where you might have to walk/lift a KLR through.
