Actually we only camped 4 nights out of the 21! Splitting small town hotel rooms 2 or 3 ways made hotels too cheap to pass up. We probably averaged about $25 each per hotel room, as most places had rooms for under $50.

If you want to do a hardcore dual-sport ride and don't want to bring camping gear so as to keep the bikes light, you can still find lots of rooms in small town USA for very reasonable rates if you're willing to split them with a buddy or two.
