i had lots of gas left at the end of the day. easily over half tank.
guess i won't pack my extra gas in my vest next time.

Yeah, leaving extra gas with the truck is OK.
I didn't realize how big a tank you have on that 350. I know JiP has run his CR down pretty low and had to refill out there, but I'm guessing with your tank even if we'd been riding all day you would have been OK.
I've got the Clarke 4.3 gallon on my XR, so I'm good for the day at Nisbet for sure. If I backroad with the XR though it's only good for about 250 km max.
